e newsletter June 2007

Happy Spring!

I am in hopes this finds you all well, and enjoying the spring weather so far.

As for here, long winter days (and evenings too) in the studio were excellent for the concentration and I will attach some of this year’s ‘crop’ of original paintings. Enjoy!

Nappers 16” x 20” oil painting on board

Absolute bliss. A joy to paint.

‘Nappers’ (above) is a fairly detailed oil and one which provided a good challenge. (I have been able to reproduce this work, now that the paint has cured somewhat; the details are now on my website).

The smaller pieces below are relatively quick, small (3” x 3”) watercolour studies. I often do these as warm-ups before starting a day’s painting on more intense subjects. (I have been haunting the produce section of the local grocery store regularly, in search of just the right shapes and colours!) These are painted on gessoed paper—it increases the technical difficulty, but I do like the rough texture of the gesso. They are available only as originals and are matted to a 12” x 12” size.

The summer here will be lively and full of shows and travelling as usual, but I do hope to squeeze a good bit of time out for painting as well. Lots of ideas which intrigue me! and I suspect the email updates may become more regular from here on in. Feel free to forward this e-newsletter on to others if you think they may enjoy it (but they will not be subscribed to my e-list unless they specifically ask to be.)

Hope to see you on my travels, enjoying the summer weather ‘to the utmost’—

Cheers! and Happy Trails—
Judy Minor
